Matthew will be hosting a vignette-style Arming Sword & Buckler class, designed as a focused two-session crash course covering the absolute fundamentals needed to begin fencing with sword and buckler. This class will introduce the core wards, attacks, and binds, giving participants a solid 101 foundation for continued self-study and future one-on-one instruction with Matthew.
This offering is open to members only and participation will be limited due to equipment availability. Because of this, Matthew will personally select participants. Selection is not based on seniority, sign-up order, or technical ability. Please only sign up if you intend to prioritize this class over other training opportunities and can commit to attending both sessions.
This vignette is being run as an experimental format and may evolve into a more formal class in the future. For now, it’s an opportunity to explore sword and buckler fundamentals in a small, focused setting.
This will require an Arming sword and buckler. If you bring a sidesword, you will be turned away as the fighting and functions are different.
