Rapier Topic: Basics including how to hold the rapier, what is this style about, history of the rapier, and everything around getting to know the blade and the topic.

Step into the elegant and strategic world of La Verdadera Destreza — the Spanish tradition of rapier fencing. This 4-week class is designed for both newcomers to rapier and experienced fencers curious about Destreza’s unique approach. You’ll learn the foundational principles of this historical martial art, including posture, distance control, circular footwork, and the use of angles to dominate the fight with precision and efficiency.

Each week will focus on a core concept of the system, progressing from basic positioning and blade alignment to structured drills and tactical applications. By the end of the course, students will have a solid understanding of Destreza’s core mechanics and how it differs from other fencing traditions.

No prior rapier experience is required, but a basic familiarity with fencing or HEMA concepts will help. All equipment will be provided.
